Barbara Hayes

Barbara Sparks Hayes, 74, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at her home. Born November 15, 1937, in Spartanburg, she was the widow of Charles David Hayes, and daughter of the late George and Edna Glenn Sparks. Mrs. Hayes was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church. She worked as a registered nurse for Mary Black Memorial Hospital for a number of years and retired as a Home Healthcare nurse for the SC Department of Health. Surviving are her son, David Hayes and wife Tammy of Boiling Springs; daughter, Kelley Southerland and husband Bobby of Roebuck; grandchildren, Courtney and Charley Hayes of Boiling Springs, and Katharine Southerland of Roebuck; sister, Rosa Sherbert of Woodruff; and brothers, David Eugene Sparks of Campobello and Jerry Sparks of Spartanburg. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, June 22, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 23, 2012, at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, by the Rev. Robert L. Brown and the Rev. Charles J. Smith. Burial will be in Westwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthew's Episcopal Church Food Pantry, 101 St. Matthews Lane, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
