Barbara Jean Hall Hanning, 83, of 415 Savanna Plains Drive, died Friday, May 8, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born October 18, 1925, in Asheville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Nelson Hall, Sr. and Pauline Fore Hall. She attended Converse College and was the former co-owner with Jo Carlisle of The Little Cricket Art Needlework Shop. She was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg for over 60 years. Survivors include her husband, Lee Hanning, Assistant Football Coach at Wofford College; two sons, John Frederick Glenn and his wife Nancye of Atlanta, GA, and Thomas Nelson Glenn and his wife Ona of Anderson; a granddaughter, Jean Elizabeth Glenn of Easley; a grandson, Thomas Franklin Glenn of Anderson; a step-granddaughter, Michelle Ramirez and her husband Ryder, and two step-great-grandchildren, Dante and Mia, of Atlanta, GA; a brother, F. Nelson Hall, Jr. of Spartanburg; a nephew, Thomas Nelson Hall of South Bend, IN; and three nieces, Joy Shackelford and Nori Bourne of Spartanburg, and Barbara Glenn of Carefree, AZ. She was predeceased by a brother, John Howard Hall; her husband, John Perrin Glenn, Jr.; and a nephew, Glenn Hall. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Susan Moorefield, the Rev. Dr. David A. Renwick, and Coach Mike Ayers. The family will receive friends following the service in the Church Parlor. A private family entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum.
