Barbara Ferguson

November 11, 1933 — May 20, 2015

Barbara Collins Ferguson was born November 11, 1933 to the late Brooke and Kate Collins in Macon County, North Carolina and passed into eternal life at The Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home May 20, 2015. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lawrence Frank Ferguson Sr., her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Ferguson Brown and Richard Brown of Atlanta, her daughter-in-law and son, Laurie and Lawrence Frank Ferguson Jr. ("Chip") of Spartanburg, three granddaughters, Laura Brown Cooksey and husband Kyle of Franklin, TN, Victoria Anne Ferguson and Annalee Brooke Ferguson of Spartanburg and three great-grandchildren, De'Aysha, Shamarion, and Corey Cooksey and brother Joe Collins and sister-in-law, Vivian Collins. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Freddie C. Collins. Barbara and Lawrence made their home together with their children in Decatur, AL, Greenville, SC, Albany, GA and finally Spartanburg, SC where she and husband, Lawrence resided and participated actively in their church and community for the last 41 years. She was an active member of First Baptist Spartanburg Church and the Al Clark Sunday School Class. She also served in the Spartanburg chapter of the General Federation of Women's Clubs. One of Barbara's favorite places to serve for the last 10 years was at The Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home where she served faithfully every week. Barbara had the undeniable gifts of hospitality and servanthood and left her distinct mark of love on everyone she met and cared for throughout her life. Because she loved well, she was loved well in return. The Family will receive friends in the Chapel of First Baptist Spartanburg, 250 E. Main St. Spartanburg, SC 29306 Friday, May 22, 2015, at 1:00 PM where the memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM, conducted by the Rev. Floyd Parker, and Rev. Robert C. Morgan. The Al Clark Sunday School class will serve as honorary escorts. Memorials may be made to The Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Dr. Spartanburg, SC 29303.
