Barbara Solesby Ellis, 90, known as Granny to so many, left this earth to run into the arms of Jesus on October 22. She was born in Spartanburg on September 2, 1932, the daughter of RV Solesby and Ruth Wolfe Solesby, who preceded her in death.
She is now dancing on streets of gold with the angels that she loved so much.
Granny grew up as an only child and only wanted one thing in her life: a big family. God blessed her with a huge family who each have had the privilege of being loved by her. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will miss her sweet hugs.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Thomas B. Ellis Sr. of Roebuck; her children, Patty Hembree (Donnie), Tommy Ellis Jr. (Susan-predeceased), Tim Ellis (Teresa), and Nancy Seay (Kenneth); her grandchildren, Leslie Grigg (Anthony), Nick Hembree (Cindy), Katie Watchorn (Derek), Crissy Harris (Josh), Kayla Johnson (Nick), Brett Seay, Clay Seay (Kaitlyn), Kendyle Seay, Sandy Moss (Mark), Joey Moss (Sue); her great grandchildren, Gracie and Hannah Hembree, Adeline, Sam, and Annalie Watchorn, Bratton and Ellis Harris, Micah, Luke, and Millie Johnson, Thomas Seay, Brittany Hanvey (Alex), Meagan Smith (Kierre), Marybeth and Sydney Moss, Natalie and Maggie Grigg; her great-great grandchildren, Olivia and Hallie Smith, and Nate Hanvey. She will also be remembered, with love, by many extended family members, church family, and the hundreds of children that our Granny has rocked and loved.
Our deepest gratitude goes to the many women who have cared for Granny for the past several months, especially Karen, Tonya, and Brandy who have been such a blessing to the family.
