Barbara Ann Norton Bowers, 68, of Woodruff, SC, died on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born February 27, 1944, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Colonel Marvin "Bud" Norton and Kathleen Barton "Kat" Norton. Mrs. Bowers was employed in the Day Care Child Development Department of Woodruff Primary School. She was a member of Life Spring Church, formerly Park Hills Church of God, where she served as Sunday School Teacher and Youth Director for many years. Surviving is her husband of 11 years, William Earl Bowers; step-mother, Grace Norton of Woodruff, SC; daughters, Tammie Starling of Charlotte, NC, Tonya Grimes of Greer, SC, and Tammy Wilson of Greenville, SC; sons, Mike Bowers of Beaver Creek, OH, Roger Bowers of Charlotte, NC, Tommy Crider of Greenville, SC, and Timothy Bowers of Greenville, SC; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Annette Roberts and husband Mike of Roebuck, SC; brothers, Edward Norton of Duncan, SC, Ronnie Norton of Spartanburg, SC, Alton West and wife Marlene of Woodruff, SC, and Wayne Garrett and wife Leah of Woodruff, SC. Others loved as her own include nieces, Courtney Norton Cary and husband Ryan, Michelle Roberts Crocker and husband Charles, and Dana Lester and her husband Joe; nephews, Josh Norton and Mitchell Roberts. Additional survivors include nieces, Tammy West, August Garrett, and Cindy Galloway; nephews, Tim West and Brandon Garrett; and great-nephew, Cole Norton. She was predeceased by a son, James L. Bowers. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Friday, October 26, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel-Hillcrest, by Pastor Tony Didway and Pastor Angela Didway. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Life Spring Church Building Fund, PO Box 6159, Spartanburg, SC 29304. The family is at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Annette and Mike Roberts.
