Barbara Blalock

On March 19, 2014, Ging finished her journey here on earth and has joined her husband, Benny Blalock and her son, David Blalock in heaven. The daughter of Dever Lawrence Melton, Sr. and Carrie Melton Duryea, Barbara graduated from Fairforest High School in 1955 and attended the Spartanburg General Hospital Nursing School. She was co-owner of Blalock Pools and Plumbing and Roebuck Drive-in. In 1991 after her first love (her husband, Benny) passed away, Barbara returned to nursing at Wellford Family Medicine and retired in 2001. A longtime member of Canaan Baptist Church in Roebuck, SC she had been deeply involved over the years with the youth group, WMU and various other groups. Children are Kimberly Blalock Sargent of Spartanburg, Angela Carrie Blalock Eubanks and son-in-law Tony M. Eubanks of Roebuck and David Benjamin Blalock (deceased) and daughter-in-law Wanda Bunn Blalock. Grandchildren are Susan Celeste Ivey of Spartanburg, SC, Lauren Ashley Eubanks Moore and husband Justin Moore of Donalds, SC, Jacob Benjamin Blalock and wife Jenni Chaney Blalock of Pauline, SC, Logan Carrie Eubanks of Roebuck, SC; brothers, Dever L. Melton, Jr. and wife Barbara of Roebuck, SC, and Robert Charles Melton (deceased) and sister-in-law Diane Melton of Boiling Springs, SC; special Friends, Charles and Shari Newman of Moore, SC, all the special caregivers and staff at Woodruff Manor Nursing Home, Woodruff, SC; and special companion cat, "Ms. Bell". Visitation will be 12:00-2:00 PM Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM in Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church St., Roebuck, SC 29376, conducted by the Rev. Larry Fleming. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Spartanburg Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 901 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
