Barbara Seay Battle, 71, of Boiling Springs, died Monday, October 8, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born April 10, 1941, in Spartanburg, she was the widow of Herschel Lawson Battle and daughter of the late Alex and Louise Coggins Seay. A 1959 graduate of Boiling Springs High School, Mrs. Battle retired as a histologist from the former Doctor's Memorial Hospital and the J. M. Smith Drug Company. She was also co-owner of Battle's Cleaning Service. A member of Boiling Springs First Baptist Church she attended Calvary Baptist Church, was a member of Eastern Star-Boiling Springs Chapter, and served in public relations for Crawley's Country Cloggers. Surviving are her son, William "Billy" Battle and wife Barbara "BJ" of Boiling Springs, SC; granddaughter, Stacy Lynn Battle of Lake Bowen, SC; sisters, Gail Seay of Boiling Springs, SC, Carolyn Brackett of Gramling, SC, Linda Jackson and Marlene Collins, both of Chesnee, SC; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by the family pet, Nikki. Visitation will be 3:00-4:15 PM Thursday, October 11, 2012, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 4:30 PM at the Chapel, conducted by Pastor Scott Linnerud. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens.
