Barbara Ann Dover Whisman, a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away at the home of her daughter in Spartanburg, SC on Monday, March 4, 2024, Born on August 4, 1952, to the late Eugene and Ethel Dover, Barbara's adventurous spirit and unwavering dedication to her family defined her life's journey.
Barbara's career was a testament to her love for the open road. She spent over twenty years as a long-haul truck driver, finding freedom and solace behind the steering wheel of an 18-wheeler. Her travels took her across the country, delivering goods to various states. A unique ritual she followed was collecting dirt from different states to feel connected to the places she visited.
Family and friends will always treasure memories of Barbara's warm hospitality. Every weekend, she would gather loved ones for family dinners, cherishing these moments of togetherness. Barbara led a simple yet fulfilling life, caring for her beloved horses and cherished Bichon fur babies who brought immense joy into her world.
Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Lynne Jackson (Daniel), son, Michael Jackson (Amanda), brother, Eric Dover; five grandchildren, Shane Jackson (Maria), Dillon Jackson, Darla Braymon, Jordan Robbins, Jaylynn Robbins; four great-grandchildren, Juliana Jackson, Emilia Jackson, Trinity Jackson, and Maya Jackson.
In addition to her parents, Eugene Dover and Ethel Morrow Dover, Barbara is predeceased by her son, Christopher Shane Dover, her sister, Lynn Dover and two brothers, Kenneth "Rounder" Dover and David Dover.
As we bid farewell to Barbara Ann Whisman in this earthly realm, may we carry forward the lessons of love, resilience, and adventure that she so beautifully embodied throughout her life.
