Aurelia Copeland Clayton Hood, 92, of Pacolet, SC, died Monday, January 26, 2015, at Hospice of Laurens County, Clinton, SC. Born March 1, 1922, in Gaffney, SC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Hester Blanch Turner Copeland, and widow of her first husband, Solomon Garren Clayton and second husband, James Edward "Jaybird" Hood. Mrs. Hood was a member of Tate Memorial Baptist Church and attended Limestone College. She retired from Torrington Bearings Company after 25 years of service. Survivors include her children, Rebekah Clayton Duvall (Jerry), Rose Ellen Clayton Pennington, and Mona Lisa Clayton Taylor (Ronnie), all of Laurens, SC, Eric Vance Clayton (Sylvia) of Clinton, SC, and Gerald Lelex Clayton of Laurens, SC; step-children, James Edward Hood, Jr. of Mauldin, SC, Linda Hood Hodge of Spartanburg, SC, Clary Hood (Gail) of Mayo, SC, and Kathy Hood Jones (Sidney) of Piedmont, SC; 13 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and sister, Margaret Thompson of Laurens, SC. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by her sister, Freddie White; and son-in-law, Danny Pennington. Visitation will be 1:00-2:45 PM Thursday, January 29, 2015, at Tate Memorial Baptist Church, 905 E. Main St., Pacolet, SC 29372. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Dennis Tessnier. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery, State Rd. S-42-1810/Whitestone Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
