Arthur Littlejohn

Arthur Beaufort Littlejohn, 93, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born August 27, 1921, in Pacolet, SC, he was the son of the late Agnes Sloan Littlejohn and Arthur B. Littlejohn. He was the loving stepson of the late Iva Smith Littlejohn. He was also the loving husband, for 68 years, of the late Mildred Joyner Littlejohn. A U. S. Army veteran in the European theatre of World War II, he was awarded three Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart for his devoted service. Mr. Littlejohn was a graduate of Pacolet High School and attended Erskine College, Cecil's and Robinson's Business Colleges. He was retired from Associated Petroleum Carriers as comptroller, was a member of Morningside Baptist Church, a deacon, treasurer, and member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. Survivors include his children, Martha Greene (Bob) of Moore, SC, and Duwayne N. Littlejohn (Barbara) of Boiling Springs, SC; grandchildren, Neal Littlejohn (Tanya) of Pacolet, SC, and Michael Littlejohn (fiancé, Natalie Conner) of Boiling Springs, SC; great-grandchildren, Ivy Littlejohn, Keaton Bell, and Eli Bell; sister, Dr. Sylvia Littlejohn of Augusta, GA; and brother, Jerry Littlejohn (Tissie) of Charlotte, NC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Faye Littlejohn and Ruth Henderson; and brother, Harold Littlejohn. Visitation will be 4:00-5:30 PM Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Morningside Baptist Church Welcome Center. Private family services were conducted previously. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church, 897 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or a charity of one's choice.
