Arthur Lee ‘Buddy' Gregory Jr., 89, died Friday, April 21, 2017, at Retreat Hospital, Richmond, VA. The eldest son of the late Arthur Lee and Evelyn Lucile Gregory, he was born in Spartanburg, SC on April 7, 1928. He was preceded in death by his wives, Florence Gregory and Janet Gregory. Buddy was a United States Army veteran serving in Europe and a 70 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Buddy enjoyed his garden, reading, and feeding his birds. He lived most of his life in DE, Claymont and Smyrna. Until recent years he was an active member of the Townsend Free Will Baptist Church located in Townsend, DE. Survivors include his brother, H. Edwin Gregory; and sisters, Irene Long, Martha McKinzie and Dorothy Burns, all of SC. He is also survived by his step-children, Bonnie Jenkins (son-in-law, Ryland Jenkins) and Debbie Morgan, all of Richmond, VA, and William Wakeling of Claymont, DE; step-grandchildren, Paul, Jeremy, Jennifer, and Jason; and step-great-granddaughters, Alexis and Kristen, all of VA. He was preceded in death by sister, Lillie Montras of PA. Visitation will be held 1:00-1:45 PM Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services and entombment will follow at 2:00 PM at Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, conducted by the Rev. Richard King.
