Dr. Arnold Leo Denler, Jr., 90, of Spartanburg, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Spartanburg Medical Center. He was born on August 20, 1933, in Faribault, MN, a son of the late Lucille Moses Denler and Arnold Leo Denler, Sr. He was married to his sweetheart, Ardeth Estelle Eberhardt Denler, for over 60 years and was faithfully dedicated to her, and their family, throughout his life.
Dr. Denler was a member of Spartanburg Seventh-day Adventist Church. He served in the US Army from 1956 until 1958.
He was a 1963 graduate of Pacific Union College in Angwin, CA, majoring in Biology. He graduated from Medical School Universidad de Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico in 1968. Dr. Denler completed his 3-year medical residency at Spartanburg General Hospital in June of 1972 and began his private Family Practice in Spartanburg that same year. He practiced in his own office until 1985. In 1985, Dr. Denler joined SC DHEC as a Physician and practiced until his well-deserved retirement in 2002.
Dr. Denler was a master carpenter and these skills were put to use in the homes of his children and in his church. He had a love of photography, painting and genealogy. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Ardeth in their RV and being around his family. He was dedicated to the Lord and to his church.
Dr. Denler is survived by his son, Daniel P. Denler (Tressy) of Spartanburg; his daughters, Lucille Steiner (Martin) of Fletcher, NC, and Kathleen Chandler (Steven) of Spartanburg; his 4 grandchildren, Danielle Rucker (Aaron), Kayla Chandler, Cole Chandler and Jake Steiner; his two great-grandchildren, Jathan and Levi Rucker; and his brother, Veryl Lowell Denler. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Ardeth Eberhardt Denler; his daughter, Susan Hancock; and his siblings, Virginia Hope Denler, Celia Coralee Wery, Faybell Signey Wintermeyer, Junavieve Ruth Mize, Julian Marlow Denler, Bonnie Denece Morrick, Angeline Faith Froemming, Loren Lee Denler, Leland Dale Denler, and Darlene Joy Brooks.
Family will be receiving condolences on Sunday, March 24, 2024 from 2-4 pm in the Colburn Hall at the Spartanburg Seventh-day Adventist church.
