Anne Stobbart Wedding, 65, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 01, 2015. Mrs. Wedding was born Anne Leslie Stobbart in Jefferson City, Missouri on June 25, 1949, the daughter of the late George Duane Stobbart and Beverly Thomas Stobbart. She was the wife of Dennis B. Wedding of Spartanburg, for 40 years. Anne attended West Elementary, Simonson Junior High and Jefferson City Senior High. At the Jefferson City Senior High she was the President of the RRR Sorority, Red & Black- Anne was the Research Director. In order to be chosen for this work the student must write an editorial, maintain a good scholastic standing, and be genuinely interested in journalism. Marcullus- Anne was the Copy Editor. 1967 was the first year that the Marcullus was allowed to select its staff, and from over ninety applications a working staff of twenty was chosen. Quill & Scroll - a member, this is the International Honorary Society for High School Journalists. The Chapter exists to reward the individual student for meritorious achievements in journalism and allied fields. Anne was a Jayette and in the French Club, American Field Service club and in the Future Teachers of America. Anne has one brother, John Thomas Stobbart and wife Myra Marie Stobbart. Anne has one nephew Nick and his wife, Christina. Anne has two great-nephews Gaige and Tristan all of Jefferson City, Missouri. Anne received duel Masters of Education in both Learning Disabled and Emotional Disturbed children and was within 2 hours of her Ph.D. in Education. Anne has been a special education teacher for 34 years, going back to the early years of federally mandated special education services. Immediately after graduation from the University of Missouri, Anne implemented a new program during the summer at the Missouri State Mental Health Hospital that provided special education for children from the local community. Anne was an elementary special education itinerant teacher in three schools in Columbia, Missouri for two years and in seven schools in St. Louis, Missouri for seven years. Since Anne and her husband Dennis B. Wedding arrived in Spartanburg, SC in 1981, Anne has served as a middle and elementary school special education resource teacher at Gable, Fairforest Elementary, Lone Oak, Arcadia, and Hilltop schools. The Spartanburg District 6 Board of Trustees with a "Letter of Appreciation" recognized Anne for her service to Spartanburg District 6. The Senate of the State of South Carolina also recognized Anne for 34 years of "Outstanding Service" to the students of South Carolina. Her principals also recognized Anne for her years of perfect attendance for never missing a teaching day. Over the years, Anne had learned patience, joy in small accomplishments of her students, and the importance of having a positive attitude from her students. Anne values good communication and problem solving skills with parents and classroom teachers and recommends that new teachers embrace these skills in addition their curriculum and behavior management knowledge.Anne always got a thrill everyday listening to her students read or seeing them make progress in Math. Anne noted, "these things have kept me "going" all through the years." Anne was a member of the Florida DAR. Anne and husband are world travelers, most of the USA, Canada, Alaska, Mexico, Panama, Central and South America, all over U.K., Europe and the Mediterranean, Turkey, Singapore, Hong Kong, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, and The Soviet Union. In retirement, they visited their new places and revisited many of their old favorites. Anne enjoyed visiting relatives and never missed spending both Thanksgiving, Christmas and summers with relatives in the Midwest and Florida. Anne also loved spending time with her husband on their large cabin cruiser. "And now we are free. I will see you again but not now ... not now" Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home.
