Anne Strawn

Anne White Strawn, 94, of 110 Summit Hills Drive, died Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Summit Hills. Born October 5, 1917, in Charlotte, NC, she was the daughter of the late George Walker and Annie Muckenfuss White and the wife of the late James Boyd Strawn. A graduate of Spartanburg High School, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Winthrop College and a Masters in Education degree from Emory University and was a retired teacher in Spartanburg School District 7 with 39 years of service. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and the Loyalty Sunday School Class, and was a member of the Kate Barry Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is survived by a niece, Ann Garrison Dunn, of Salisbury, NC. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Thursday, November 10, 2011, in the parlor at Bethel United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the church, conducted by the Rev. David E. Nichols, the Rev. David B. Smith, and the Rev. Dr. Charles A. Graves. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum.
