Anne Hayes Pitts of Wellford SC, a senior judge in the City of Greer SC criminal court, died suddenly on Thursday, March 31, 2022. She was the beloved wife and best friend of recently retired Corporal of the SC State Highway Patrol Brian Pitts.
Anne was born in Beaumont, TX in July 1968 and loved the law. Prior to her court career, she was a police officer, a crime scene investigator, and then a homicide detective in Myrtle Beach.
She loved vacations with Brian in the mountains and was a huge fan of SC Lady Gamecocks and UConn’s Lady Huskies. Anne and Brian have been active members of the Inman First Baptist Church since settling in Wellford.
Anne earned a degree from Horry County Community College and was nearing completion of a degree at USC.
Missing Anne’s warmth, humor and compassion, in addition to her devoted surviving husband Brian, are her parents, Terry and Mary Hayes of Kountze, TX, Wilda Morgan Hayes and Ron Olsen of Danbury, CT, and siblings, Elizabeth Hayes of Woodbury, CT, and Christopher Hayes and Nicolas Elsishans of San Francisco, CA.
Also, survivors include her parents-in-law, Raffia Elizabeth and Ellison Smith of Conway, SC, and Carroll and Becky Pitts of Atlanta, and siblings-in-law, Craig and Raffia Harris of Charleston, and Chris and Rachelle Rollings of Lancaster and their children.
Anne leaves behind her Texas family, aunts, Joy Morgan and Janet Hayes Hood, uncle, Sam Loyacano, numerous cousins, her Greer court family and beloved pets, Sage and Daisy. She was predeceased by an uncle, Michael Morgan, aunt, Carolyn Morgan Loyacano, and her Morgan and Hayes grandparents.
Visitation will be 3:00 – 5:00 pm Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Inman First Baptist Church, 14 North Howard Street, Inman, SC 29349. A Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, April 4, 2022, at the church, conducted by The Rev. Dr. Paul Moore. Burial will follow in Fort Prince Memorial Gardens, 125 Fort Prince Road, Wellford, SC 29385.
