Anne Harshaw Greenough, 76, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, in McConnells, SC after a long battle with lung cancer. Born December 31, 1937, in McConnells, SC, she was the daughter of the late Hugh John and Ruth Hardee Harshaw. She was formerly employed as a financial analyst with Cryovac in Duncan, SC. Although she resided in Spartanburg for over 40 years, she spent significant amounts of time with her son's family in Philadelphia and with friends in San Diego. She travelled extensively and visited many exotic places around the world on over two dozen cruises. For the last several years, she stayed closer to home and enjoyed socializing with her many friends and spending time with her grandson who resided with her while attending school. Survivors include her son, J. David Thomas, Jr. (Marianne) of Philadelphia, PA; grandson, Evan Lee Thomas of Spartanburg, SC; brothers, John Harshaw of McConnells, SC, Jim Harshaw of Chapel Hill, NC, and Malcolm Harshaw of McConnells, SC; and sister, Lynda Metzger of Bessemer City, NC. She was predeceased by her first husband, John David Thomas, Sr., and her second husband, Francis W. Greenough. Visitation for family and friends will be held 1:00-1:45 PM Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Joanne R. Hull. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
