Miss Anne M. Ebersbach, 88, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015, following a brief illness. Born Dec. 19, 1926 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Georg Fritz and Margarete Hagge Ebersbach. She grew up in Middleburgh, NY, graduating from Middleburgh Central School and Katharine Gibbs School in New York. She was a certified professional secretary. In October of 1945, she went to work for Deering Milliken, Inc., later Milliken and Co., a career that lasted over 64 years. She was the executive assistant for Roger Milliken until his retirement in 2009 from the company. Miss Ebersbach then served as personal secretary to Mr. Milliken until his death in 2010. Anne was a member of the James F. Byrnes Chapter of the National Secretaries Association and served two terms as chapter president. She came to Spartanburg with Deering Milliken in the 1950s, and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. The Anne Ebersbach Endowed Scholarship is awarded by Converse College in her honor. Active in the South Carolina Federation of Republican Women, she served on every level of the organization and was president of the state's political group and a member of the board of directors of the National Federation of Republican Women. In 1972, she was an alternate delegate for South Carolina to the Republican National Convention. Anne is survived by her sister, Elise E. Manning, two nephews, Edward J. Manning and his wife Melanie and sons, Brian Manning, Eric Manning and his wife Kayla and R. Scott Manning and his wife Haeran and daughters, Hanna and Brianna. Visitation will be from 11:00 to 12:15 PM on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at St. John's Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 415 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302, with services following at 12:30 PM in the sanctuary, conducted by the Rev. Michael Shackelford. Burial will follow in Graceland East Memorial Park, 2206 Woodruff Road, Greenville, SC 29681 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Anne Ebersbach Endowed Scholarship Fund, Converse College, 580 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
