Anne Olevia Palmer Cromer, 72, of Southport, NC, formerly of Shelton Drive, Spartanburg, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Brunswick Novant Medical Center. Born November 15, 1939, in Tampa, FL, she was the widow of Dr. Jerry Haltiwanger Cromer and daughter of the late Greely Ray Palmer, Sr. and Olevia Sorensen Palmer. An honors graduate from Anderson Senior High School (TL Hanna) in 1957, she then received the Bachelor of Arts Degree from Duke University in 1961 and two Master's Degrees in Special Education from George Peabody College for Teachers (part of Vanderbilt University) in 1964. Mrs. Cromer dedicated her life to education. Her teaching career included grade school in Columbia and Anderson, moving on to Special Education in Nashville and Spartanburg. She concluded her educational career as a Sunday School teacher. Later in life, she was a loyal and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as a model of strength and perseverance for all who knew her. Surviving are her sons, Jeffrey P. Cromer of Southport, NC, and James E. Cromer and wife Meaghan N. of Acworth, GA; three grandchildren, Jonathan Wright, Meredith Cromer, and Jerryd Cromer; and her brother, G. R. "Guy" Palmer, Jr. of Greer, SC. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, July 27, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Dr. William L. Arthur. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
