Anne Smith Sovey, born July 11, 1931, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 at Summit Hills, surrounded by her loving husband, Terrell Sovey, and her daughter, Jacquelyn Brennan of Cartersville, GA.  Anne, along with her twin sister Myra, were born in Elberton, GA a daughter of the late Jackson and Anna McRee Smith.  She excelled academically, graduated with highest honors from Elberton City High School and the University of Georgia, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi and other prestigious organizations.

Anne and Terrell embarked on their lifelong journey on June 5, 1952, at the Methodist Church in Athens, GA.  Their early years were marked by Terrell’s Navy service, during which they welcomed their first daughter, Kathryn Anne Sovey in 1954.  Following Terrell’s discharge from the Navy, they established their home in Spartanburg, SC where Terrell joined Deering Milliken Service Corporation.

They were instrumental in the founding of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where they actively served.  Anne and Terrell’s family grew with the birth of their son, Louis Terrell Sovey, III, in 1960 and their daughter Jacquelyn in 1969.  Jacquelyn’s two sons, Jackson and George Brennan, brought immense joy to Anne’s life.  Sadly, both Kathryn and Louis predeceased their mother, leaving Jacquelyn as her only surviving child.

Anne was renowned for her volunteer work in the community, her love of literature, and her bridge playing prowess.  She relished traveling the globe, exploring destinations across Europe, South America and the Atlantic and Pacific islands.

In her later years, Anne was lovingly cared for by a dedicated group of caregivers, particularly her devoted main caretaker, Joy Motter.
