Ann Simmons

Elizabeth Ann Lancaster Simmons, 84, of Greer, SC, died Monday, August 24, 2015, at Alpha Health and Rehab of Greer. Born July 2, 1931, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Burch Loran and Elma Coggins Burnett Lancaster. She was married, for 62 years, to the late Hugh R. Simmons. A 1949 graduate of Chesnee High School, Mrs. Simmons retired from Spartanburg General Hospital after 25 years of service. She was a Girl Scout for 50 years and was "Mother Nature" at the Piedmont Area Girl Scout Region for over 30 years. She was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church, past president and lifetime member of Fairforest Garden Club, and an officer in the South Carolina Grange. Surviving are her daughter, Cathy S. Desjardins of Spartanburg, SC; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brothers, Hugh Lancaster (Rita) of Greer, SC and Curtis Lancaster (Hannah) of Chesnee, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Fairforest Baptist Church, 115 Church St., Fairforest, SC 29336, by the Rev. Joe Dempsey. Burial will be in Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will follow the services in the church Fellowship Hall.
