Ann Martin Miller, 85, of Roebuck died Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at her home. A native of Greenville County, she was born on October 27, 1938, a daughter of the late Dr. Robert Lewis and Almeade Dozier Martin and was the wife of 53 years to the late James Martin Miller.
She was a 1956 graduate of Simpsonville High School, and attended Winthrop, Furman, Clemson and Western Carolina Universities, graduating with bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She was an elementary school teacher and reading specialist for over three decades at multiple schools in upstate South Carolina and northeast Georgia. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church in the Walnut Grove Community of Spartanburg County.
Surviving are her daughters, Anna Miller Knight (Aldon) of Roebuck and Leigh Miller Whitfield (Warren) of Calhoun, Ga., grandchildren, Martin Christopher Groke (Cameron) of Spartanburg, Kathryn Almeade Groke of Raleigh, NC, Lillian Grace Groke of Roebuck, William Lewis Whitfield of West Hollywood, CA., Anna Caroline Whitfield of Johnson City, TN; sister, Frances Martin Smith of Easley; sisters-in-law, Joan Miller Cogdill (Robert) and Doris Miller Hipp both of Roebuck. She was predeceased by a sister, Jeanne Martin Williamson of Norway, as well as numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to caregivers Betty Watson, Paula Wise and Diana Floyd for their compassionate care and love.
Visitation will be from 11:30 to 12:30 pm Friday, January 5, 2024, at Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church, 1399 Walnut Grove Road, Roebuck, SC 29376. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 pm in the church cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Richard Thomas and the Rev. Jim Stephenson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church or to Gibbs Cancer Center, 380 Serpentine Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
