Ann Hatton Lewis, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at White Oak Estates Assisted Living. Born in Whitmire, SC, she was the daughter of the late William White and Ann Hatton Lewis. She lived for most of her adult life in Decatur and Atlanta, GA, first as an English teacher at Decatur High School and later as an administrative assistant at Georgia Tech. After completing her Master's degree at Emory University, she taught for two years at her alma mater, Winthrop University. In 2000, Mrs. Lewis came to live in Spartanburg; and for the past several years has made her home at White Oak Estates. She is survived by her sister, Kit Corley and husband Bob of Spartanburg; a sister, Elisabeth Crutchfield and husband Robert S. of Newport News, VA; a brother, Robert S. Lewis of Bridgeport, RI; and ten beloved nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held at a later date.
