Anita Gail Maxwell Tate, 74, of 283 Ferndale Drive, Boiling Springs, is now in the presence of her loving Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Born in Inman, to the late Howard Lee and Miriam Metcalf Maxwell, she has called the upstate her home for the past 50 years. Though she is now gone, she will forever remain in the hearts of her husband of 58 years and her three devoted children. Mrs. Tate has been a long-time Christian and devoted member of First Baptist North Spartanburg Church. Throughout her lifetime, she graduated Greenville Hospital’s School of Nursing as a registered nurse (working in pediatrics), became an amazing mother and was co-owner of Tate Jewelers for over 40 years. Mrs. Tate was also very active in the Boiling Springs Band Booster Club, serving in concessions and as their treasurer. She was also a respected leader of the local Junior Girl Scout Troop and First Place group. Gail will always be remembered by her passion for gardening, love of red tea roses, and adoration of bright Northern Cardinals.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Tate, and their three children; Katrina Murphree Garrett and her husband Ryan Garrett; David Tate and his wife, Shannon Tate; and Mary Tate Bergstrom and her husband, Tim Bergstrom. She is grandmother to eight beautiful grandchildren, Connor, Cinnamon and Caellum Murphree; Maxwell and Samuel Tate; and Sullivan, Duncan, and Elliot Bergstrom. She is also survived by her brother, Ricky Maxwell and his wife, Cathy; two nephews and two nieces. Mrs. Tate was pre-deceased by her sister, Brenda Settle.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 9:30-10:45 AM at Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC, 29316, with a celebration of her life following at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens adjacent to the chapel.
