Andres "Andy" Collazo Jr., 73, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at his home. Born in Puerto Rico, he lived most of his life in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Spartanburg, South Carolina. To know Andy was to love him (unless you were a Dallas Cowboys fan!). He was a die-hard Philadelphia EAGLES, Phillies, and 76ers fan. He was our go-to commentator on football Sundays. He worked at Progress & Hubbell Lighting for 39 years with many people he cherished. In his spare time he enjoyed playing wheelchair basketball, a sport that he excelled in, where he received many awards and recognition. His determination was an inspiration to all that knew him. Andy was the backbone of his family and proud of his two daughters; Nina Smith (U. S. Navy) and husband Travis and Dara Lora (U. S. Air Force) and husband Jovan. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Hennie Collazo; his brothers and sisters, Joe, Carlos, Cheo, Hector, Lydia, Felicia, Nydia, and Alicia; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will hold a private ceremony in Spartanburg, South Carolina and conduct a memorial service at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Andy's name to the South Carolina Foundation for Disabled Athletes (S.C.F.D.A.), Attn: Jack Todd, with a memo to "Spartanburg Pistons Wheelchair Sports", PO Box 5402, Spartanburg, SC 29304. He is at peace...Dad finally got his legs. Floyd's North Church Street Chapel To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Andres "Andy" Collazo Jr. please visit our Sympathy Store.
