Andrea Buchanan Foster West

Andrea Buchanan Foster West, of Spartanburg, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in her home, on the morning of Friday, June 30, 2023. 

Andrea was born on February 25, 1952, in Frankfurt, Germany, the daughter of George Washington Foster and Ann Dobbie Buchanan Foster. She was married to Michael Eugene West for 38 wonderful years. 

Andrea cared for and loved anyone who crossed paths with her. She found humor and joy in most everything in life. She was the definition of generosity, and her thoughtfulness–even at the most unexpected moments– always reminded her loved ones of how loved they were. She was the kind of person who when she told you that you were beautiful on the inside and out, she believed it… and she made you believe it too. She was a spark that will live on in our hearts forever and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her husband, Andrea will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Amanda Ann Buchanan West Cecil and her husband, Michael Payne Cecil; her sisters, Sara Foster VanHemel, Deirdre Robertson, and Candace Foster-Propps; her brother, Allan Foster; her stepsons; and many loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Deborah Foster.

A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 309 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307, on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 1:00 pm, with a reception of family and friends to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
