Alvin Dean West, 79, of 106 West Road, died Friday, April 17, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born December 17, 1929, in Pauline, SC, he was the son of the late John Wesley and Louise Duncan West. He was retired as a superintendent with Fiske-Carter Construction Company and also Union Water Works. He was a member of Bogansville United Methodist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Jonelle Gowan West; two sons, Tim West and his wife Carolyn, and Mark West and his wife Sharon, and a daughter, Karen West McBee, all of Pauline; five grandchildren, Hunter West, Davis West, Emma Carson West, Greg Harvey, and Holly McBee; great-grandchildren, Alex and Drew Harvey, and Noah McBee; five brothers, Wayne West, Tom West, and Cary West, all of Pauline, and Gary West and Neal West, both of Spartanburg; two sisters, Evelyn Thomas of Spartanburg, and Grace Eaves of Gaffney; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2009, at Bogansville United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Gary Peterson. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the committal service.
