Alpha Mintz

Alpha Lorena Green Mintz, 81, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, October 9, 2016, at her residence. Born January 5, 1935, in Gaffney, SC, she was the daughter of the late Elbert E. and Alpha Poole Green and widow of Olin D. Mintz, Sr. Mrs. Mintz enjoyed traveling but most of all she loved being with her family. A 1953 graduate of Cowpens High School, she retired from the Sterile Processing Department at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in January 1997 and was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Pam Meeks (Frank) of Spartanburg, SC and Debra Godfrey of the home; two sons, Tim Mintz (Sheila) of Inman, SC and Olin D. Mintz, Jr. (Susan) of Cowpens, SC; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sister, Sarah "Lily" Vandeboom (Van) of Zebulon, GA. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Jerry Dean Mintz. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, October 14, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Larry Holland and the Rev. John G. Smith. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
