Alonzo Worley Beasley, 90, died Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Hampshire, TN, he was the son of the late Dr. Moses Andrew Beasley and Mary Brown Worley and was married to the late Lillian Ogletree Beasley for 65 years. A graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Masters degree, he worked as a chemical engineer and plant manager at E. I. DuPont from 1947 until he retired in 1983. Rising to the rank of 2nd Lietenant in the US Army-Air Corps during World War II, he served as a navigator and instructor for the B-29. He was a member and Sunday school teacher at Central Church of Christ and was a longtime volunteer with Mobile Meals Service, both in Spartanburg. Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Beasley Curtis and her husband John of Marietta, GA, and Harriet Beasley Moxley and her husband Mike of Spartanburg; a son, Alonzo "Lon" Worley Beasley Jr. and his wife Rebecca of Easley; three granddaughters, Elizabeth Lillian Moxley Brown and her husband David of Charlotte, NC, Emily Anne Beasley and Olivia Rebecca Beasley, both of Easley; three grandsons, George Michael Moxley Jr. of Princeton, NJ, Harrison Andrew Moxley of Spartanburg, and William Russell Beasley of Easley; and a great-granddaughter, Mary Charlotte Brown of Charlotte, NC. He was predeceased by his two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by Mr. Ernie Thigpen. Visitation will follow at the Chapel. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Central Time on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Sylacauga, AL.
