Alma Elizabeth Henson Dean, 92, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at Golden Age Nursing Home-Inman. Born September 14, 1919, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Mary Abernathy Henson, and wife of the late Harvey Dean. She was the last survivor of nine siblings. Mrs. Dean was a member of Temple Independent Methodist Church and retired from Butte Knit. Survivors include her daughters, Sandra D. Brown (Danny) of Pacolet and Mary O'Shields (Marshall) of Buffalo; grandchildren, Jay Tucker of Olympia, WA, Dean O'Shields of Seattle, WA, Chad Brown of Spartanburg, and Deborah Motts of Woodruff; four great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Dorothy Dean of Boiling Springs. She was predeceased by her sons, Harvey Ronald Dean and James O'Dell Dean. Visitation will be 10:30-11:30 AM Friday, October 7, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 noon in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Scott Corbin.
