Allison Garner, 90, of 129 Petras Way, died Friday, October 2, 2009, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born March 2, 1919, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Albert O. and Lenora "Nonie" Easler Garner. He was a music teacher and a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. A U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, he served in North Africa and Italy and received three Bronze Battle Stars. Survivors include three nephews, George S. Burnett and wife Sally, Glenn W. Burnett and wife Teresa, all of Spartanburg, and Jerald Nelson Garner of Seneca; two nieces, Phyllis Pryor and husband Billy, and Denise Chapman and husband Jerry, all of Spartanburg; and a sister-in-law, Marie Garner of Spartanburg. He was predeceased by a brother, Nelson Garner; and a sister, Marjorie Burnett. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 4, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Graveside services with military rites by the SC State Guard Honors Team will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 5, 2009, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Cephas Hand and the Rev. Charlie Glover. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home of his niece, Phyllis Pryor, 930 Gossett Road, Spartanburg.
