Allene Taylor

Allene Wood Taylor, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, Janaury 5, 2021. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and the last surviving charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Kinston, NC, where she served many years in various capacities. She graduated from Grainger High School in Kinston and East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. She was first married to the late Phil Wood of Kinston, NC. After his death, she moved to Spartanburg and soon became a member of The Episcopal Church of the Advent. It was here she married Jess G. Taylor, who predeceased her in 2014. Survivors include her daughter, Chris Wood Lynn (Maxcy) of Spartanburg; two grandchildren, Tripp Lynn (Elizabeth) of Jacksonville, FL and Kathleen Lynn Ricker (Greg) of Charleston; three great-grandchildren, Bradley and Caroline Lynn and Iris Lynn Ricker. A private memorial service will be held. Burial will be at a later date in Kinston, NC.
