Allen Lamar "Big Al" Harrell Jr., 53, of Cowpens, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born August 21, 1959, in Statesville, NC, and reared in Charleston, SC, he was the son of Dr. Allen Lamar Harrell Sr. and Mary Bolchoz Harrell of Charleston, SC. Mr. Harrell attended Catholic schools in Charleston, joined the U. S. Army, and was the owner/operator of Asphalt Maintenance and Sales. He was a member of Glendale Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Lisa Jones Harrell; sons, Matthew Allen Harrell (Kyleigh) and Christopher Lamar Harrell (Autumn Denyse), all of Spartanburg, SC; daughter, Christina Harrell Sutherland (James Thomas Sr.) of Spartanburg; six grandchildren, Jameson Ryker Harrell, Christopher Noah Sullivan Harrell, Easlyn Levi Scott Harrell, Jacob Henry Knox Harrell, Graham Allen Sutherland, and Thaddeus James Sutherland; sisters, Allyson H. Moring (Danny) of Charleston, SC, Erin H. Carter (Jim) of Statesville, NC, Julianne H. Khoury (George), Lori H. Barabas (David), and Kathryn H. Dabney (Frank), all of Charleston, SC; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 11:00-12:30 PM Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Daniel Blackwell and the Rev. Preston Edmonds. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.
