Allen Hawkins Campbell, Jr., 79, of Spartanburg, died Friday, July 22, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born June 2, 1932, in Greer, he was the son of the late Allen H. Campbell, Sr. and Lillian Johnson Campbell. Mr. Campbell was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg where he was also a member of the New Boys Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and recipient of the Purple Heart. For over 30 years, he worked for the South Carolina Tax Commission as an investigator in the Criminal Investigations Dept. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Burns Campbell, of the home; daughters, Tamara (Clark) Gregory of Columbia, Shari (Jim) Turner of Inman; a son, Mitch Campbell of Charleston; grandchildren, Wil and Sallie Gregory of Columbia, Alec Turner of Inman, and Allee Campbell of Spartanburg; a daughter-in-law, Sherri Campbell of Spartanburg; and a sister, Vette Wilson of Gray Court. He was predeceased by a son, Dr. Ric Campbell. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Sunday, July 24, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Sal Barone and the Rev. Bill Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the New Boys Sunday School Class and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
