Alice Mattson

Alice Louise Paschke Mattson, 88, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, December 4, 2014, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born May 29, 1926, in North East, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harold Rudolph Paschke and Helen Phoebe Maria Beatty Paschke. Mrs. Mattson was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. She was a former music and choral director, former piano teacher, a member of the Organ Guild, and lifelong member of the Homemaker Club. Survivors include her loving husband of 68 years, Edward Allen Mattson; children, Barbara Mattson of Spartanburg, Lynne Wampler (Larrie) of Lawrenceville, GA, Diane Shelton (Gary) of Spartanburg, Kenneth Mattson (Sandra) of Boiling Springs, SC, and Paul Mattson (Terri) of Moore, SC; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Inwood of Fredonia, NY, and Mary Cogliano of Westfield, NY; and brother, Bruce Paschke of Fredonia, NY; numerous nieces and nephews; and special niece and caregiver, Phyllis Lemley. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 PM Sunday, December 7, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, December 8, 2014, at St. Luke United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Heidi Campbell-Robinson. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 105 McKay Avenue, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or a charity of one's choice.
