Alice Louise Coleman Hastings, 90, resident of Windsor House, Spartanburg, died Thursday, August 16, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Born February 11, 1922, in Spartanburg, she was the widow of Jake Reid Hastings, Jr., and daughter of the late Shufford Buttons and Lucille Thomason Coleman. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Hastings was a graduate of Cowpens High School Class of 1939, retired from Spartanburg County Board of Education, was a member of Gravely Memorial United Methodist Church, Young at Heart, and Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was a loved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who is survived by her daughters, Carole H. Taylor and husband Paul, and Lynn H. Fields and husband Chuck, all of Moore, SC; son, Michael R. Hastings and wife Sally of Stuart, FL; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters, Edna Sproles and Katherine C. Robertson; and brother, Carroll Coleman. Visitation will be 3:00-3:45 PM Sunday, August 19, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Scott S. Gilmer and the Rev. Richard Smith. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family is at the home of her daughter, Lynn and Chuck Fields, 268 Cedar Bluff Drive, Moore, SC.
