Alice Grizzle

Alice Foster Grizzle, 69, Moore, SC, died Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. She was born January 25, 1944 in Spartanburg County a daughter of the late Chester L. and Ila Wood Foster. Mrs. Grizzle was a graduate of Roebuck High School, Winthrop College and received her masters from Converse College. She was a retired public school teacher from Woodland Heights Elementary School where she taught 4th grade for 30 years. Following retirement she was farm manager at Nivens Apple Farm. She was a member of Roebuck Presbyterian Church for 33 years where she was a youth leader and a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Grizzle was a member of the SC Teachers Association and the Anderson Mill Garden Club of Moore. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, James M. Grizzle; her daughter, Jennifer G Amick (Lee) of Boiling Spring, SC; two sons, Jim Grizzle (Erica) of Ware Shoals, SC, and Jake Grizzle (Stephanie) of Spartanburg, SC; six grandchildren, Granger Amick and Ila Kay Amick, Katelyn Grizzle, Hunter Grizzle, Lilly Grizzle and Madison Grizzle; a sister, Susan F. Couch (Ken) of White Stone, SC; two brothers, Lewis Foster (Brenda) of Richmond, VA, and Sam Foster of Spartanburg, SC. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday February 17, 2013 at the Roebuck Presbyterian Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Ray Bobo. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Roebuck Presbyterian Church, PO Box 284, Roebuck, SC 29376. The family is at the home of her daughter Jennifer Amick, 309 Shadow Oak Ct., Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
