Alice Joanne Blackwell Cannon, known to everyone as “Joanne” was born in Spartanburg, S.C. on December 5, 1934. She was the daughter of the late William Harrison Blackwell and Clarice Allen Blackwell, and the widow of Fred Franklin Cannon.
Joanne was a 1953 graduate of Spartanburg High School. She began her career at the Spartanburg Herald Journal. From there she worked in the administration office of Ryder Truck Rentals, Inc., where she eventually retired.
