Alfred Parker, Jr.

Alfred "Al" D. Parker, Jr., 78, of Lyman, SC, died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born October 13, 1935, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Alfred Dewey Parker, Sr. and Anne Adele Goforth Parker. Mr. Parker was a kind, gentle, loving husband, father, and grandfather who found the joy in living through his faith despite physical suffering for many years. He fought a good fight and won the victory. He was a retired Pharmacist with Rite-Aid Drug Store on Church Street, graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Pharmacy, and a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg. Surviving are his wife, Harolyn Kyzer Parker; daughters, Leigh Anne Broome (Jeff) of Greenwood and Susan Parker Balardini (Mark) of Greer; granddaughters, Haley Broome and Lindsey Broome both of Greenwood; and grandsons, Greg Balardini and Ryan Balardini both of Greer. He was predeceased by son, Harold Gregory Parker; sister, Phyllis Ann Parker; and brother, Richard Michael Parker. Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 PM Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 PM in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307,conducted by the Rev. Dr. Drew Hines. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 9801 Southern Pines Blvd, Suite 1, Charlotte, NC 28273 or American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.
