Alberta Scott

Alberta Cunningham Scott, 91, of 4268 North Blackstock Road, died Monday, March 22, 2010, at National Healthcare of Greenville. Born July 24, 1918, in New Prospect, SC, and reared in Jonesville, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Carl and Sallie Reaves Cunningham and the wife of the late Shuping A. Scott. A graduate of Jonesville High School, she was the cafeteria manager at Fairforest Elementary School for thirty years. She was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church where she was a member of the Willie Crains Sunday School Class, Church Choir, Yesterday's Children Choir, WMU, Young at Heart, and worked in the Children's Department. She was a member of the Fairforest Garden Club and a former president of the Spartanburg County School Food Service Association. Survivors include three sons, Bill Scott and wife Jane of North Augusta, Bob Scott and wife Sherry of Greenville, and Bud Scott and wife Sandy of Laguna Niguel, CA; a daughter-in-law, Ann H. Scott of Greenville; seven grandchildren, Amy Stinson and husband Patrick of Lexington, Jennifer Scott of Laguna Niguel, CA, Mark Scott and wife Rita of Easley, Ashley Nelon and husband Michael of Greer, Cathy Baker and husband Brian of Simpsonville, Anne McKenney and husband Alan of Evans, GA, and Melissa Sisk and husband Bill of Powder Springs, GA; and ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Jim Scott; a grandson, William R. Scott, Jr.; a sister, Rose Cunningham Gault; and a brother, William "Buck" Cunningham. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010, at Fairforest Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Church conducted by the Rev. Monty King and the Rev. Kermit Morris. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairforest Baptist Church, P. O. Box 338, Fairforest, SC 29336. The family is at their respective homes. The family wishes to express special and sincere thanks to the entire staff of NHC of Greenville for her care over the past 3 ½ years.
