Albert Jones, Sr.

Albert Pierce Jones, Sr., 90, of White Stone, died Friday, June 19, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born October 13, 1918, in the Mountainview community of Greenville County, SC, he was the son of the late Pierce Harper and Nannie Taylor Jones and the husband of the late Guynell Murph Jones. He attended North Greenville College and the University of South Carolina and was the co-owner of Jones and Lindsey Construction Company. He was a member of White Stone United Methodist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Survivors include two daughters, Nell Jones Hodge and her husband Thomas R. Hodge of Seneca, and Nancy L. Banks and her partner Jola Sacewicz of Villa Hills, KY; two sons, Dr. Albert P. Jones, Jr. of Rochester, NY, and Dr. William Taylor Hill Jones and his partner Dr. Barry Reeves Pate of Asheville, NC; five grandchildren, T. Russell Hodge, Jr. and his wife Anna of Campobello, Ashley Jones Smith and her husband Michael of Charleston, William Pierce Hodge and his wife Anna of Greenville, James L. Banks, IV and his wife Katie of Madison, MS, and Clayton Harper Jones of Charleston; a sister-in-law, Marian Murph of White Stone; and two sisters, Vara Graham of Greenville, and Lucy Coleman of Hilton Head Island. He was predeceased by three brothers and five sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Patricia McCain. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Following the committal service, the family will receive friends at White Stone Schoolhouse.
