Alan William Silverman, 91, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, February 26, 2015, at his home. Born September 12, 1923, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Max A. and Laura Wax Silverman, and husband of the late Edith Reichel Silverman. The co-founder and retired owner of Wendell Fabrics Corporation, Blacksburg, SC, Mr. Silverman was an avid sailor and piano player who loved life, music, and traveling. He was a member of Temple B'nai Israel, a Mason, and a volunteer for Mobile Meals Service. Survivors include his children, Sherrie Traub (Stephen) and Edward Silverman, all of Black Mountain, NC, and Cathy Lewson (Jonathan) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Amy, Stacy, Dallas, Hannah, Corey, and Ben; great-grandchildren, Will, Eve, Leah, Madelyn, and Mia; sister, Barbara Marcus (Walter) of San Diego, CA; niece, Bonnie; and nephews, Jeffrey and Gary. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Friday, February 27, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC, by Rabbi Yossi Liebowitz. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304; or Temple B'nai Israel, 146 Heywood Avenue, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family is at the home of Alan Silverman.
