Alan Ralph Holden, 69, of Spartanburg, died Friday, November 19, 2021, at Pacifica Senior Living after a long illness. He was born on December 23, 1951 in Spartanburg, SC, a son of the late Ralph Holden and Ethel Naomi O’Dell Holden.
Alan was a 1970 graduate of Spartanburg High School and retired from Spartanburg School District 6 after 28 years of faithful and dedicated service. He was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church and enjoyed being an amateur artist.
Surviving are his sister, Diane King (the Rev. Monty) of Spartanburg; and a brother, the Rev. Kenneth D. Holden (Beth) of Georgetown, KY. Affectionatly know as Uncle Al, he was the proud uncle to Tim Holden (Gina) of Wake Forest, NC, Chris King (Cindy) of Spartanburg, Bryan King (Courtney) of Spartanburg, Jennifer Raley (Jesse) of Columbia, SC, Greg Holden (Hannah) of Richmond, KY and Lizzy Robinette (Steven) of Florence, SC. Alan was also predeceased by a brother, Phil Duane Holden.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2021, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel, conducted by his brother, the Rev. Ken Holden and his brother-in-law, the Rev. Monty King. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family expresses their sincere thanks for the care given to Alan by the staffs at Woodland Senior Living, Pacifica Skylyn Senior Living, Agape Care, and Comfort Keepers, especially caregiver, Michele Griffin, who has become like a family member.
