Aileene Black

Aileene Coggins Black, 101, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, August 18, 2016, at her home. Born January 30, 1915, in Spartanburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Ellis Herman Coggins and Callie Jane Easler Coggins and widow of G. S. Black. Mrs. Black was a life-long member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and retired personnel director at Raycord. She was a bright star and encourager to everyone she met. Survivors include her sister, Agnes Coggins Masters of Greenville, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Ada Coggins Black. The family would like to thank Karen Schafer, Connie Van Wyk, Joyce McDaniel, Edith Whitmire, Sandi Coggins, and Ruth Garren for the care and compassion shown to Aileene. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Sunday, August 21, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Keith Davis. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Hill Baptist Church, 2817 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
