Agnes Hope Coates Riddle, 79, of Spartanburg, formerly of Gordon Drive, died Saturday, August 29, 2009, at her home. Born June 22, 1930, in Ahoskie, NC, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Daniel and Agnes Johnson Coates and the wife of the late John Manley Riddle. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Spartanburg where she sang in the choir for 30 years and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was previously a member of the Monday Afternoon Music Club and the Aeolian Music Club. She attended Converse College and Cecil's Business College. Survivors include a son, David K. Riddle and his wife Peggy of Saluda, NC; a daughter Kathy R. Sims and her husband Jimmy of Greer; grandsons, David E. Thomas, Jr. and Christopher R. Riddle; granddaughter, Emily Rae Riddle; two step-grandchildren, J. Sims and Stacy S. Pike; two great-grandsons; and three step-great- grandchildren. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Luther H. Rickenbaker III. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
