Ada Adcock Mims, 97, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, January 21, 2017, in Spartanburg, SC. Born in Granville County, NC in 1919, Ada was the daughter of James "Jack" Adcock and Ila Denny Adcock. A kind and giving person, Ada loved her family, her neighbors, and her church. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Greensboro for 55 years. Surviving family includes her brother, Allen Adcock; daughters, Marie Mims Butler and Sue Mims Sloop (Mike); grandsons, Christian and Collin Butler, Jacob and Nathan Sloop; and granddaughter, Kaitlin Sloop. She is predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Virgil Graham Mims, Jr.; and her granddaughter, Whitney Butler. A private graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, January 27, 2017, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Dr. Steve Pressley. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be welcomed to First Baptist Church of Greensboro, 1000 West Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27041.
