Marilynne Pearl Arwood, 93, of Martinsville, VA, formerly of Spartanburg, SC died Wednesday, January 31, at her home. Mrs. Arwood was born on January 6, 1925, in Erwin, TN to Jerome Ray Kerns and Carrie Belle (Callahan) Kerns. Growing up she lived in Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky, and South Carolina. She graduated from Spartanburg High School. She was employed by Duke Power Company in Spartanburg for 31 years and continued to be an active part in the Duke Power Retirees group. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Boiling Springs, SC where she enjoyed being a part of the Joy Group, working at the mission clothes closet and volunteering with Wednesday night meals. Surviving are a son, Dennis Arwood (Dianne) of Temple, TX and their children, Richard Arwood of Temple, TX and his daughter, Abigail, of Temple, TX and Heather Green (Chris) of Belton, TX and their daughters, Desiree Montgomery of Houston, TX, Gabbie Keller (Josh) of Danville, VA and Michelle Montgomery of Lakeland, FL: and a daughter, Toni Tollison (David) of Ridgeway, VA and their children Sally Farnham (John) of Elon, NC and their children John David and Catherine, Michael Tollison (Jane) of Ridgeway, VA and their children, Natalie and Nathan, Carrie Painter (Travis) of Collinsville, VA and their children Cody Minter of Abilene, TX, Davis and Eliza Painter of Collinsville, VA and Stephanie Tollison of Ridgeway and her children, Tyler Martin and Amelia Tollison. Marilynne is also survived by a brother, Bill Kerns of Chesnee, SC; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Rosalind Malphrus; and two brothers, Harry and Harold Kerns. Visitation will be 10:30-11:30 AM Saturday, February 24, 2018 at First Baptist Church Chapel, 250 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29306, with a memorial service following at 11:30 AM, officiated by The Rev. Chris Green and The Rev. Bob Lindsey.
