Margaret Mcdowell

Margaret T. McDowell, 100, formerly of Spartanburg, SC died Thursday, August 18, 2022 in Ringgold, VA. Born September 10, 1921 in Switzer, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Otts and Rosa Lee Farmer Turner and the wife of the late Curtis O’Dell McDowell for 68 years.

Margaret was retired from Kerr Drug Company after 36 years of service. She was a charter member of Fernwood Baptist Church. Margaret resided in Spartanburg, SC until her health started to decline in November 2019 and she went to live in Ringgold, VA with her nephew.

Survivors include her nephews, Fremon Davis (Linda) of Greenwood, SC, Harold Smith (Kathy) of Tyler, TX, Marvin W. McDowell, Jr. and Ray A. McDowell (Sara) of Ringgold, VA, and her niece, Lynn Bailey of California, her close friends, Rick and Sandra Workman and John and Kathy Ball. She was predeceased by her siblings, James Otts Turner, Jr. of Woodruff, SC, Elizabeth Workman of Laurens, SC, and Sarah T. Turner of Greenwood, SC.

A Graveside service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, August 20, 2022 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Matt Johnson.
