Margaret Hall

Margaret Thorpe Hall, 81, of Spartanburg, SC died Thursday, November 23, 2017, at her home. Born March 18, 1936 in Fairview, NC, she was the daughter of the late John Zebulon and Annie Phipps Thorpe and wife of the late Melvin "Umpire" Hall. Mrs. Hall, a graduate of Fairview High School, was retired from Arrow Automotive and a member of Thompson Chapel Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and worked with the Christmas programs. She also enjoyed writing songs. Survivors include her sons, Stanley Hall of Spartanburg, SC and Martin Hall of Mars, Hill, NC; grandchildren, Stephanie Hall of Pacolet, SC, and Reese Fishtorn of Inman, SC; great-grandchildren, Chris Wilburn of Spartanburg, SC, Alana Fishtorn and Rylee Fishtorn both of Inman, SC; sisters, Vivian Ownby and Mary Goforth and brother, Carl Thorpe. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by sisters, Eva Radford, Lib Garrison and Estelle Moore, and brother, James Thorpe. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, November 27, 2017, at Thompson Chapel Baptist Church, 990 Thompson Chapel Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. David Sellers. Burial will be in Laurel Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, 677 Morgan Hill Rd., Fairview, NC 28730. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
