Brian Wilfred McCray, 55, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, March 22, 2018 in Jackson, SC. Born July 5, 1962 in Winston-Salem, NC, he was the son of S. Fred and Mavene Parker McCray of Spartanburg, SC. Brian was a Nuclear Engineering graduate of North Carolina State University and employed at the Savannah River Plant, Mox Project. He was a member of Cowpens First Baptist Church and a member and president of the Cowpens Lions Club. Brian was full of life and never met a stranger. He had a love of baseball, deep sea fishing, all sports, and was an avid NC State fan. He loved to accompany his father to his Navy reunions. In addition to his parents, survivors include a brother, Ashley McCray (Donna) of Chesnee, SC; sister, Jan Coffin (Mark) of LaGrange, GA; two nieces, Turner Davis and Kyndall Davis; a special love in his life, Peggy Stapleton Smith; and his two cats that he adored, Cole and Streak. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by The Rev. Ronell Owensby. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Pallbearers are Jarred Spencer, Josh Spencer, Ben Simpson, Mark Coffin, Jeff Medlock, Eddie McCray, Dylan Smith, and Wayne Christman. Honorary escort is his brother, Ashley McCray.
