Bonnie Gibson Kallio, 86, of Pacolet Mills, SC, died Saturday, May 19, 2018 at White Oak at North Grove. Born April 25, 1932 in Pacolet, SC, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Wilson and Mossie Barner Burgess. Mrs. Kallio was a graduate of Pacolet High School and Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse for 62 years. The first 48 years was in office nursing, and the last 14 years at Mountain View Medical Daycare as the director, in which she retired in 1997. Bonnie was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, SC, where she sang in the Spartanburg First Baptist Sanctuary Choir for 41 years, also sang in the Yesterday's Teen Senior Choir, was a member of Young at Heart and Ladies First Thursday. She was also a former Vice President of the Medical Day Care Association. She volunteered with the Helping Center. Her private ministry was taking home cooked meals to the sick and needy, along with caring for the sick. Goodness, she could cook. Surviving members of her family include her loving husband, William Dean Kallio; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Gibson Hall Wilson (The Rev. Charles "Chip" Wilson) of Westminster, SC; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Demars Gibson, Jr. (Wendy) of Whitestone, SC; grandsons, Tyler Gibson (Brooke); Stephen Hall (Sara); and Brandon Gibson; granddaughter, Alli Gibson; and nephew and wife, Michael Lewis Burgess (Zonia). Along with her parents, she is also predeceased by her first husband, Robert Demars Gibson, Sr., who died in 1987; and siblings, Cleo Burgess, William Burgess, Lewis Burgess, and Cassie Burgess. Visitation will be 2:00 - 2:45 PM Tuesday, May 22, 2018 in Floyd's Pacolet Chapel, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC 29372. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at the chapel, conducted by The Rev. Sal Barone. Burial will follow in Pacolet Memorial Gardens, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC 29372, with committal service to be conducted by The Rev. Chip Wilson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Sanctuary Choir, c/o Spartanburg First Baptist Church, 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
